Get to Know Me: Why I Do This Work

My name is Jordan Smith, and animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Rosholt, Wisconsin, on a small farm where I spent my childhood rescuing animals, learning their personalities, and teaching myself how to groom the many creatures who lived with us.

When I was 10, my family moved to Tennessee, and I started working at an exotic pet shop. I spent five years there gaining hands-on experience with a wide variety of species and discovering how much I loved helping animals feel safe, healthy, and cared for.

At 22, I moved back to Wisconsin and began volunteering at a rescue in Appleton. That’s where I met an avian veterinarian and the head of the rescue, who both mentored me and taught me how to groom birds — a skill that quickly became one of my passions.

During this time, I was also working at a pet store, but after three years I decided to follow my heart and pursue grooming full-time. I’m still a volunteer and board member at a non-profit bird rescue in Appleton, where I’ve been proudly serving since the end of 2021.

My goal is simple: to help any and all animals, and to support my clients with honesty, compassion, and the highest level of care.
